I was up to Generations installing the game on my new-to-me 2013 iMac when I suddenly had this problem.

I could bypass the launcher, but I really want to just install and patch, and then reinstall some of my Store content, and bypassing the launcher seems to be a bit more convoluted in Mavericks than it was in Snow Leopard. I have the same problem as the OP, the icon for the EP shows up and then disappears without opening the launcher. I tried both TS3.exe and TS3W.exe and it's not working.
